The desert has been a part of my life from a very young age. We used to spend Spring Break at my Grandmother's Palm Desert home. I remember hiding from the heat in her swimming pool and counting stars (and bats!) at night. During the day we would check out the local galleries along El Paseo. Palm desert has such deep roots in the art world, there are sculptures around every corner. I've always loved the way art fit in so seamlessly with the warm, natural palate of the desert earth. Now that I live in California, I try to make it down to the desert several times a year, weather thats a camping trip to Joshua Tree or a weekend at a funky desert motel. Spring has sprung and the desert has been looking more beautiful than ever. The wildflowers were in full bloom, and so was the Desert X showcase so I made plans to travel inland as quick as possible. I ended up spending two weekends in a row checking out the fabulous artwork and soaking in the desert sun with some good company.
